Top Social Networking Apps for the Samsung Galaxy Tab

By Gareth Jale

This past October, Samsung went ahead and released their Galaxy Tab, a 7inch Android tablet, closely resembling the other Galaxy S series phones (just bigger). Pros of the Tab include the fact that it is compact and the build quality is high; the tablet as a whole feels extremely solid in the hands. Beyond this, it comes with a 7 inch touch screen display that is capacitive and of great quality. Cons of this device include the lack of good video calling software to go with it, as well as the lack of support from Google. This article will describe some of the top social networking programs that you can download to use on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Remember, it's always a good idea to do some research on what your phone can actually do, and what it can't. Internally, it has a 1 GHz processor. Because it shipped with Android 2.2, there is also full sport for flash based media and technology. You also get dual cameras with the Galaxy Tab.

The internal memory supports up to about 32GB, and of course, you also get both wireless and 3G connectivity, which means you can be on the internet just about anywhere. All four major US carriers are capable of carrying and supporting the Galaxy Tab, and if you purchase one to work with the Verizon network, a Galaxy Tab can be yours without a contract for $600, while if you purchase with a two year contract option on the Sprint network, it will run you about $300, although you will have to factor in the money needed for the contract itself as well.

When it comes to social networking, there are not that many different sites to choose from; you basically have Facebook and Twitter as the two most popular sites where people go to learn more about each other and keep track of what others are doing. Of course, a big part of why people use social networking sites is also to provide information about themselves, from the exciting to the mundane. No matter your reason for using a social networking site, you can still take advantage of them by using apps within the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

When you use an app for Facebook, it can become a mini version of Facebook as it would appear if you actually visited the site. You can read updates from friends and family, post updates about what you have been up to, and see pictures of family and friends or post your own. It is not quite as easy to do with the app as it is when surfing the website, but the experience is rather close. Similarly, you can use the Twitter app to check out the mini messages, or Tweets, that other people are sending to you or to other people around the internet, and you can also post your thoughts in Tweet form through the app. Although Twitter has a much more minimal feel in compared to Facebook, it still packs a community sense.

Finally, you will probably want to check out some of the accessories that have been designed for the since its release, such as a screen protector or a Tab case. There are not nearly as many accessories for the Tab as there are for other Samsung devices, however, due to its uniqueness.
