The Greatest Phillip Seymour Hoffman Films Up To This Point

By Benjamin Jordan

Any time you are going to talk about actors based on talent, one person who should be thrown into the discussion is Philip Seymour Hoffman. Hoffman is a classically trained theater actor, and I think that shows; his poise and versatility are amazing things to watch.

This article will discuss some of the best Philip Seymour Hoffman movies and roles up to this point in his career.

One film that must be discussed when talking about Philip Seymour Hoffman movies is Boogie Nights. This is a rather peculiar role for Hoffman, but the man still manages to give a great performance. There is one scene he is involved in, which is uncomfortable, to say the least.

Another great film featuring the great Philip Seymour Hoffman is Twister. Again, this is not a leading role for Hoffman, but you cannot deny that he knows how to choose a role and does not simply jump at the gun to act in any movie. I haven't seen this movie in quite some time, but I still remember how amazing the special effects looked in theaters.

If you have yet to see Doubt, then you are missing out on some amazing acting. Any time you put Meryl Streep and Philip Hoffman together the result is going to be great. It came as no surprise that both of them were nominated for Academy Awards for this film.

If you like Spike Lee movies, then one movie worth checking out is 25th Hour. In fact, this might be my favorite Spike Lee movie of all. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays a conflicted teacher in this dramatic film.

One other film that I feel the need to discuss is the movie that nabbed him an Academy Award for Best Actor In A Lead Role, and that was of course the movie Capote. Hoffman played the part of Truman Capote as no one else could.

Hopefully there are one or more Philip Seymour Hoffman films on this list which you have not yet seen. Get familiar with this incredible actor, because he will be around for years to come.
