A Few Of The Greatest Movies From The Incredibly Passionate Actor, Tom Hanks

By Harold Scott

Tom Hanks seems like a good guy. He has never said anything off screen that has turned people off and the roles he chooses consistently are likable characters. Even in Catch Me If You Can, in which he played a detective on the chase of the protagonist, he still wasn't a bad guy.

This article will highlight some of my favorite Tom Hanks movies of all time.

"Hi, my name's Forrest, Forrest Gump." It should not come as a surprise that this movie makes the cut, as any list of Tom Hanks films (or best of lists from the 1990s) that failed to include this movie would simply put, be wrong.

Tom Hanks delivered another incredible acting performance in the movie Cast Away. While this film did not receive the Academy Award nominations it strove for, it is an unbelievable showcase of talent, as Hanks is the only actor in the majority of the film.

In Philadelphia, Tom Hanks stars a homosexual defendant who must pair up with a homophobic lawyer played by Denzel Washington. This movie nabbed Hanks the Academy Award for Best Actor In A Leading Role, a very much-deserved accolade.

One Tom Hanks movie that may not have gotten the mainstream praise which it deserved was The Green Mile. Hanks plays a jail guard who patrols a special prisoner on death row. This is an amazing movie.

Another movie that I have a special affinity for is Turner and Hooch. Growing up, I had a Dogue De Bordeaux, which is the type of dog that Hooch was. Subsequently, this was a family favorite of ours.

If there is a film I left off this list, do not worry. Tom Hanks always manages to make incredible movies and this list will have to be reevaluated in a few years.
