The Greatest Jack Nicholson Movies In His Career

By Brian Douglas

It's a shame how much free time Jack Nicholson has on his hands these days. The guy is without a doubt one of the most accomplished actors of all time, and instead of continuing to churn out classics, he waits for the perfect movie before pouncing on it. In the meantime, you can catch him in the front row at the Staples Center.

In my opinion, the following films are the best movies of all time that happen to star Jack Nicholson.

If you have yet to see The Departed, you are missing out. Few films that have come out in recent years have touched the brilliance that The Departed delivered. It came as little surprise to most when this movie won the Oscar for Best Picture of The Year.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's nest is simply put, one of the greatest pieces of American cinema ever created. Jack plays a mental patient that leads a coup against an evil nurse at an insane asylum and the scenes are memorable, to say the least.

Steven King's The Shining showed audiences just how terrifying a role Mr Nicholson is capable of playing. This movie further showcased his versatility, playing a completely different role than anything he had attempted before.

I normally do not care for romantic comedies, but Terms Of Endearment, which was released in 1983, was a very enjoyable film to watch. And this is coming from a guy who does not care for the genre normally. This movie also stars Danny DeVito, Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger.

As Good As It Gets, is close to as good as it gets when discussing Jack Nicholson films. This movie also starred Helen Hunt and Cuba Gooding Jr at the peak of their respective careers. Jack plays the role of Melvin Udall to a tee.

I wanted to limit this list to five films, but feel that a six movie, Chinatown is worth mentioning. This is a great murder mystery film that was released in 1974.
