UK Lottery Creates Millionaires

By Graham McKenzie

The UK National Lottery has made more than 800,000,000 winners (you read that correctly, it's really 800 million) from the time that it began in November'94. Each week, about 750,000 people having tickets are winners in the UK lottery, but the ones who win big money are the ones who get all the attention.

UK Lottery Biggest Win In June'95 the largest individual ticket win took place in UK Lottery history. The ticket was worth 22,590,829 Pounds. The prize was shared by two Brighton residents, Paul Maddison and Mark Gardiner. A winners right to anonymity wasn't put into effect until December of 94. This option was put on the table after the identity of a 17.44 million Pounds winner from Blackburn was released to the media. This winner was a very shy and reserved Asian factory. Even though he kept to himself, the leak made it real easy for the media to track him down.

The biggest jackpot winner for the National UK Lottery was a ticket that was shared by three holders back in January'96. The Irish lottery saw the biggest individual European lottery winner with a woman from Limerick, the El Gordo lottery created a whole town of winners in Spain.

Biggest Lottery Win in the World However, every one of these lottery jackpots sounds like pennies compared to what was the biggest jackpot of all -- $365 million, (210 million) that a fortunate person from Nebraska in the United States won with a Powerball ticket. His name was Alain Maboussou and he was an immigrant from the Republic of Congo who worked at a meatpacking plant. He drove people crazy because he didn't try to pick up his winnings immediately. It goes without saying that he stopped working right after getting the news.

There are how ever unclaimed prizes to this National lottery as unbelievable as that may be. Unclaimed money sits from the UK National lottery. What are you waiting for? Get out there and get your money! From March to July of 2006 there is Millions of unclaimed lottery winnings. After an allotted amount of time goes by and the money is not claim it will be distributed in other areas

Most Recent Unclaimed Prizes. The two most recent unclaimed prizes were worth 250,000 Pounds. One was for a Euro Million draw and the other was for a Thunder ball draw. Easily the most astonishing unclaimed prizes were both for 1,666,667 Pounds, and were both bought on April 29 2006. What could be so amazing, that it would keep toe people from checking their tickets and claiming their prizes? One was located in Warwickshire and the other in Glasgow. I'm pretty sure it was the fact that Football star Wayne Rooney suffered a broken bone just six weeks before the opening match of the World Cup.

Biggest National Lottery Unclaimed Prize In August of 2006, the help of Don cater Twin Crier was requested to help jog the memory of the winner of a 9,476,995 Pounds ticket. The prize was still unclaimed a month alter. The significance of the winning date, is that it was the same date London won the rights to host the 2012 Olympics. It must have been another sports fan.
