This time it is life saver Sander who becomes mortal, joining his old celestial buddy who's now wedded to a carnival entertainer. Lighter going than its predecessor, although additionally more lightweight; it's still a good film to watch. The Prince and the Showgirl: Fairly good but slow moving comedy of saucy American show gal Monroe being courted by Prince Regent of Carpathia (Olivier) throughout the 1911 coronation of George V. Filmed in England, with admirable performances by Monroe and Olivier. Cast includes Laurence Olivier, Sybil Thorndike, Jeremy Spencer, and Richard Wattis. (117 minutes, 1957)
King David: Dense biblical tale tracks young David's life from his boyhood battle with Goliath to his anxious reign as emperor; only goes bad in the second half, where abruptness sabotages narrative. This movie is visually striking, with Donald McAlpine's photography. Cast includes Richard Gere, Edward Woodward, Alice Krige, Denis Quilley, Niall Buggy, Cherie Lunghi, Hurd Hatfield, and Jack Klaff. (114 minutes, 1985)
