Fantastic John Travolta Films To Download Now

By Sara M Perry

It is rather hard to consider that one of the most beloved actors or our time broke into fame by playing a "sweathog". Even though he had a few roles prior, one of his most unforgettable roles came in 1975 to 1979 as "Vinnie Barbarino" in "Welcome Back, Kotter". Since that time, he has acted in frequent roles. Here are some short reviews on a few that you can download and watch tonight if you wish.

In 1977, in one of his most outstanding roles, Travolta played Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever. This movie came out at the top of the disco era and it played a major part in that time. Tony Manero was the king of the dance floor at the local disco. He meets a young woman named Stephanie and they agree to dance together in a competition.

John Travolta was nominated that year for the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role but he lost out to Richard Dreyfuss for "The Goodbye Girl".

Shortly after that, in 1980, Travolta acted alongside Debra Winger in one of the leading hits of that time, "Urban Cowboy". He played the part of Buford "Bud" Uan Davis, a cowboy from a small town who goes to the city and learns about love and life at a bar in Houston that is owned by the renowned singer, Mickey Gilley.

He meets a young cowgirl, "Sissy" played by Debra Winger and the storyline follows his love affair with Sissy and how he tries to win a competition for riding a mechanical bull. Mechanical bulls were quite prevalent for some time after that motion picture. This motion picture can often still be seen on cable even now. John Travolta then had a few box office disasters and it was actually many years before he had a different hit and became famous again.

However, by 1994 Travolta had again caught the eye of the public by starring in the popular flick, "Pulp Fiction" as Vincent Vega, a mob hitman. The motion picture also starred Samuel L. Jackson, Ving Rhames and Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino directed it. The movie was a enormous box office success and also achieved critical acclaim.

Travolta was again nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role however, this time the Oscar went to Tom Hanks for playing "Forrest Gump".

John Travolta has starred in several other great motion pictures. In 1996, there were two sentimental favorites in a row with "Michael" and "Phenomenon".
